SERIE A2
The 2026 Serie A2 Women's Championship is played across two groups, "A" and "B", through a Regular Season, Qualifiers and Playoffs, changing the format of previous editions. The new championship also introduces the Relegation Pool.
Regular Season (22 rounds, from 3 October 2026 to 20 March 2027)
In the Regular Season the teams are split into two groups, A and B, of 11 teams each, playing a round-robin with home and away games.
At the end of the Regular Season, the teams ranked 1st to 6th in each group qualify for the Second Stage. The teams ranked 7th to 10th in each group take part in the Relegation Pool. The teams ranked 11th in each group are directly relegated to the Women's Serie B.
Qualifiers (31 March 2027 and 4 April 2027)
The teams ranked 3rd to 6th in each group at the end of the Regular Season meet over two legs (Away-Home sequence; the home team of the second leg is the one with the better ranking at the end of the Regular Season). Games may end in a draw; overtime is played only in the second leg, when the aggregate score is level.
The pairings:
Q1 — 3rd place Group A vs 6th place Group B
Q2 — 5th place Group A vs 4th place Group B
Q3 — 3rd place Group B vs 6th place Group A
Q4 — 4th place Group A vs 5th place Group B
Playoffs (from 24 April 2027 to 16 May 2027, date of the eventual Game 3 of the Final)
The teams ranked 1st and 2nd in each group after the Regular Season and the Qualifier winners advance to the Playoffs, played as best-of-three series through Quarter-finals, Semi-finals and a Final. The sequence is Home-Away-Home; the home team is the one with the better ranking at the end of the Regular Season.
